Psst, It’s a Team Effort

– A message from Katherine, Managing Director

Achieving results just doesn’t happen in the clinic. It happens at home as well which means it’s a team effort! Committing to good pre-treatment and post-treatment skincare routines and habits is essential for the success of any treatment.

Sunscreen is non-negotiable. If you’re not committed to using it, it’s best not to proceed with clinic treatments.

Did you know that the procedures we do at the clinic have to go through microns of epidermal debris which can reduce skin’s receptivity to treatments? Preparing skin ahead of a treatment by activating cellular renewal can help achieve optimal outcomes. AHAs, BHAs and retinol can help us maximize your end results.

Clients who have darker skin are at higher risk for post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) which means not only do they need sunscreen (24/7/365) but they should incorporate certain ingredients to help inhibit tyrosinase weeks before their treatment as well as throughout their treatment series to continue to help calm down melanin. This reduces their risk of PIH.

If you are experiencing loss of elasticity and loss of collagen then you can help enhance your treatment’s efficacy by incorporating actives such as peptides, retinol and growth factors in your skincare routine. A fact that still startles us is that we lose 1-2% of our collagen every year starting in our 20s! That loss jumps as high as 7% around menopause.

We emphasize these points during our treatment discussions not to simply sell you the latest skincare product but because we genuinely believe in the value of homecare. It’s not always easy to understand but we hope this explanation sheds light on its importance.

Thank you for being a part of our team on this journey for healthier, happier skin. If you have any questions about how to incorporate skincare into your treatments please feel free to reach out to us at any time.
