Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are a simple and effective way to gently resurface the skin revealing fresh, smooth, newer and clearer skin underneath. Studies have proven that these medical grade peels are very successful at improving skin texture and tone, reducing acne, acne scarring and comedones, minimizing oiliness, dryness, fine lines and pores as well as reducing sun spots, melasma and hyperpigmentation.

Benefits

  • Quick and easy to fit into your daily routine.
  • Very little discomfort.
  • Very little downtime depending on the peel you choose.
  • Can be less expensive than a facial but superior in results.
  • Medical grade peels are more effective than salon or other esthetic grade peels.
  • Can be used on any part of the body.

How chemical peels work

Medical grade acid is applied to the skin in a controlled manner. It can affect the skin on a cellular level gently removing the damaged layers of cells that cover the healthy ones. Improvements in skin appearance generally result from a controlled series of peels with each peel being done 2-‐4 weeks apart. You should avoid having a peel done if you have had facial waxing in the past week, have a cold sore or have used topical vitamin A (retinol or retinoids) in the past three days.

What to expect from chemical peels

Depending on the type of peel chosen for your skin type and concerns, you may experience little or no downtime, or you may have some tightness, flakiness and possible peeling at day 3 to 5 of the peel. The skin is usually back to normal by day 7 of the peel. You should avoid wearing make up and avoid direct sunlight for the rest of the day. Make sure to incorporate a broad spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher during the course of your peel series.

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy uses liquid nitrogen to remove unwanted skin blemishes, lesions, skin tags, sun and age spots that cannot be removed by IPL treatments. It is a relatively inexpensive, safe and reliable treatment that dermatologists have used for years to remove diseased skin tissue and cells.

Benefits

  • Quick and easy treatment to have done
  • Cost-effective

How cryotherapy works

Liquid nitrogen is preserved at -196 degrees Celcius. It is sprayed onto the lesions to be removed for a few brief seconds, destroying the abnormal skin cells. What to expect from cryotherapy: The treatment takes a few minutes to do and has a slight stinging sensation as it is applied to the skin. We recommend applying Bactroban to the affected areas twice a day for a few days, being careful also to apply a broad spectrum SPF 30 or higher sunscreen for the next couple of weeks.

What to expect from cryotherapy

The skin may appear red and irritated immediately after treatment. A slight crust or scab may form and be visible for 7-10 days before it disappears. The skin underneath may appear pink for a couple of weeks.

SilkPeel Dermalinfusion

SilkPeel Dermalinfusion is a non-‐invasive skin rejuvenation procedure. The only technology to provide simultaneous exfoliation, evacuation and the delivery of specific topical serums, SilkPeel Dermalinfusion offers advanced skin care for almost every skin type and condition. SilkPeel’s diamond tip wand exfoliates damaged skin cells, evenly abrading the top layer of the skin in order to deliver targeted formulations to the dermis.

Benefits

  • Smoother, brighter skin, decreased fine lines
  • No down-time
  • Simple but effective
  • Minimal discomfort

How SilkPeel Dermalinfusion works

A customizable diamond tip is passed over the area to remove the upper dead layers of skin while a special solution based on the clients specific needs is simultaneously delivered to the skin to reveal healthier, new skin underneath. The solution is absorbed by the skin allowing for an effective delivery of product.

What to expect from SilkPeel Dermalinfusion

Immediately after the treatment, you may experience some tingling and redness which may last anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour or so. The skin will feel much smoother to the touch and you should refrain from using chemical or physical exfoliants for the next 5-‐7 days. This treatment can create some sensitivity to the sun and it is recommended wear a broad spectrum medical grade sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher to protect the newer skin that is revealed immediately after the treatment.

Microneedling

Microneedling, (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy), is a treatment that can be used on the face or body to help improve the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, stretch marks as well as texture, tone and colour of the skin. Having this treatment done at an experienced cosmetic dermatology clinic ensures you receive the best possible results and care.

Benefits

  • Little to no downtime
  • Improvement can be seen after just one treatment
  • Helps with multiple concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, tone, texture, acne scars, traumaticscars and stretch marks
  • Can treat all areas of the body

How Microneedling works

Our specific Microneedling device has a motor that operates at 7000 RPM which allows for thousands of controlled micro-injuries to the skin to aid in the production of collagen and elastin. Patient safety is always one of of our main concerns when doing microneedling which is why each new treatment uses a sterile cartridge. Patients can notice an immediate glow to their skin while more visible changes develop over the course of several weeks. Results can continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatment. For best results, a series of 4 treatments should be done at 4 week intervals. For patients with more significant skin care concerns such as acne scarring, it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 6 week intervals.

What to expect from Microneedling

Your nurse or medical aesthetician will ensure a clean, safe and comfortable environment during your treatment. A medical grade hyaluronic acid serum or PRP is applied to the area before the microneedling device is glided along the skin. As the device delivers the thousands of micro-injuries, you will feel a sensation similar to sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas may be more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating tip helps make the treatment more comfortable. Immediately afterwards, you will notice redness to the skin which can start to resolve in as little as a few hours. In some cases, the skin may remain red for up to 24 hours or longer. Mineral make up (available at the clinic) can be applied immediately post treatment if desired.
